sierra2.450-400 Ruger
Gun Week just announced that Ruger is making the #1 in this caliber. I know people here have talked about these potential Rugers, BUT, has anyone seen one? I'd like to give a .450/400 #1 a try, as I sure cannot afford a proper double in that caliber!

Gentlemen:
I am curious as to what bore dimensions Ruger has decided to standardize. Thanks!

DonatoAnyone know how long the barrel will be and how much they will weight? I would like to buy one. I hope they come out for sale in April like some one AR said they would.

sierra2Somehow I tend to agree with Scrollcutter. Companys advertise and don't deliver until enough orders come in to make it economical. Curses!!!

Woodrow SI am not so sure about that. When did they start advertising the 9.3x74R #1's? They are now available and are a very nice package at that. I am hoping the 450-400 is the same configuration.

sierra2Boom stick,
I won't rechamber my .45-70 #1, or my .45-70 M/B1886, but the idea of doing the deed to a .405 is tempting.
Going to a show this weekend where I'll have to drool over several .450-400 double rifles. I hope my heart will be strong.

Viola? My grandma is named "Viola."
The 405 Winchester Ruger No.1 is indeed a sweet idea for simply rechambering to 450/400 Nitro Express 3".
I will stamp that rifle barrel with "Viola" whenever I get to it, after X-ing out the "405 Win" on the barrel, but maybe Ruger will beat me to it. 2008 maybe?

Yes, I saw an African hunting video on one of the Outdoor Channels last week, where Craing Boddington was hunting Cape Buffalo accompanied by a lady hunter. She was using a Ruger No. 1 in .450/.400. She got her M'Bogo with it....
Now, I don't know if hers was a custom job, a special run, or a caliber recently added to the regular lineup!
