Overkill from swedenThe .577 Tyrannosaur V&S .600 Overkill
The .577 Tyrannosaur is more powerfull than the .600 OK if you look at the energy tables.
MAX load Fot the .577 Tyrannosaur 750 grains at 2700 FPS. (Done by Ulrik Hentzer) will give 16500 joule.
MAX load for the .600 OK 900 grains at 2400 FPS (Is it yet done!???) Will give 15600 joule.
But the .600 OK still have a bigger bullet area and more bulet weight.
Wich of these 2 do you guys think would be most effective on lets say an eland or buff?
On moose I think the .577 Becasue it will leave more energy and leave it much faster becasue of the lighter bullet weight and I think it would gie more shock.
But on buff I do think that the .600 Will be the winner.
Just some toughts.

ManCannonI seriously doubt that you could tell a "real" difference.

I agree!

Both are each "in a league of their own" and the differences are minute. I do think that .577 bullets might be easier to come by though.

GrandpasezAh but if you run 600 at same high pressures as trex you will be over 2500 and have more
energy.Straight belted is best.Ed.

jeffeossooverkill..
listen to me, on these two things.. this is pretty simple
the 557 trex is less powerful than the 600 OK
IF YOU RUN THEM AT TEH SAME PRESSURE AND OTHER SETTINGSsecondly, no human can fire EITHER from a hunting weight rifle with any chance of a follow up shot at maximum levels.

You know.. that's a greata Idea, as Taurus may be the only bull large enough to withstand a single well placed shot from either!!!

ACRecurveSo if I am reading this thread correctly, the only discernible difference between the 2 rounds is the difference between a detached retina and a dislocated shoulder?
