Here's the best info I have so far. I'm still trying to get dies, so I can load up some Barnes to take to Africa in July. The factory stuff shoots wonderful, but there's just not a lot of satisfaction in burning up money. I need that for more trophy fees!

i love the 375, and now 416 ruger -- a luddite I aint.

guys - PAY ATTENTION --

I read Jon's article, and the cases are NOT the same capacity as a 416 remington and DO NOT use that as a starting point

It doesn't matter if you play games with water at the neck, unless you are seating to the same length .. case capacity is case capacity - full stop.

The 416 ruger is a GREAT round, and no doubt its going to have tons of reloading data .. DO NOT assume you can swap rem data.

Even Jon points out that he got his velocities with nearly 10% less powder.. which means, gents, THEY AINT THE SAME CASE

Wish I had some data to share but I am still waiting on my dies as well. I do have some Hornady factory ammo and in comparing it with Hornady y ammo in another 416 Rigby Ruger the 416 Ruger averaged only 30fps less than the Rigby - even though it had a 20 inch bbl compared with the 24 inch bbl on the Rigby.

I did experience some difficulty feeding the top round in the Ruger when using the FN Hornady DGX ammo - but the second and bottom rounds fed great. Anyone else had this problem?

Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship

I tried to buy some factory ammo from Chimo,s but ythe guy said that it had been recalled and they had sent what they had back.. He didn,t know when they would get more but said they definately would ... Something about hard primers ....?????????? Thanks for the advise Jeffe , . . Mine will prolly spend most of it,s life with the 350 gr Speer bullet . but I think I will do a pretty indepth shooting study of the difference between the 300 go and 350 gr TSX . I,m ordering both Hornady and Redding dies see which gets there first ............ As soon as I can make up some dummies I,m hopeing I can get a factory crimp die from LEE ....

Thanks for the link ....
