I know there are charts that show the differences in recoil energy, velocity, etc...but I'm looking for practical, real-world experience from you guys. How do you guys think the recoil of a 10.25 lb .458 Lott compares to a 10.5 lb .470 NE or a 11.5 lb .500 NE? My CZ 550 .458 Lott weighs 11.1 lbs with 4 cartridges in the magazine. My V-C in .470 NE weighs 10.1. To me the .470 kicks a good bit harder (especially with rounds loaded with IMR 4831), the kick is "sharper", if that makes any sense to you. Karl Karl Evans | |||

+1 I have a Lott and a double 470 in the weight categories you mentioned. My 470 (Heym 88) appears to recoil more.

Recoil is subjective and I can usually soak it up. I am also 7" taller with the same in arms length than the "average" man. Most factory guns don't fit me well. That means the stocks are fit for a smaller person and makes the recoil harder on me. I can tell you, then show you, my Accrel round cambered bolt guns , loaded at corrosponding vels, kick FAR less than double rifles loaded to like vels and the doubles weigh MUCH more. In my mind, a Lott in a ruger kicks close to a 500 NE. But the recoil is faster opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round?
