I got a new cz 375 hh mag today and put it over the chrono. The ammo was remington green box 270 gr. a five shot string avreged 2870 fps. The chrono is reliable and has been checked against others both informaly and in sanctioned comptetition. Other guns were shot over the chrono and they did what they have done in the past, giving the expected results. The spent cases showed no pressure signs or stickiness of extraction. The chrono was a good 20+ feet from the muzzle. Do I just have a fast barrel or some really good ammo for my gun. I have thought about going and buying a couple more boxes of the same lot. I had only planned to load 270's to around 2700. Is this normal?

Remember your CZ has a 25" bbl. too. It does sound a bit fast though, how was accuracy? LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

Your getting 150+fps over what a 270 gr load should do. You've got a very fast barrel. What's the accuracy like?

Didn't bench it, it shoots about a foot high at 150 on the 100 leaf. I need a new front sight. It would hit the gong (6x8 inches) at 150 when I held low. The target included with gun has an inch group.

Dear Huckbf I have found that the Federal and Remington ammo for 375 too fast by about 200 ft/s for hunting but good for a laugh with the guys down the range. If you can download some reloads, you still get excellent penetration and expansion but much nicer to shoot and better consistancy. The woodleigh 300gn was retrived from a frontal chest shot on a waterbuck somewhere deep in the guts, vel@2300fps For practice I use 220 gn Hornady FP @ 2500. Regards Mark Hunting is getting as close as you can, shooting is getting as far away as possible.

I realize you are shooting remmy ammo, but 2870 is EXACTLY what hornady specs for the 270gr load in their loaded ammo. I would suggest you find a friend or 2, at least the minimum number requeired to have another 375 and another chrono and retest. Sounds like excellent fun to me jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round?
