Hello Oscar,
Can't speak of the recoil on the rifle that you are purchasing, but I have a Ruger No. 1 in 458Lott and it is indeed strong in recoil. The NO.1 in Lott is not known to have "easy" recoil, but whatever rifle in 458Lott most likely will need some form of recoil pad/buffer.
I put a Merc. Recoil reducer in mine and a Galco Leather wrap on pad and it is much easier to shoot than w/ the standard piece of hard rubber which Ruger installs at the factory. Don't know if the Galco type of removeable pad is available to you or not, but might want to check it out. Here they run in price some 30-40 dollars. Believe you will find the 458Lott a great round for very versatile and can load down or up to whatever level of power you can tolerate on the shoulder. Good Luck.

Thank you very much Martin, I have the intention to put a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad, or if I find gel recoil pad. I do not want to put a brake mouth because I have pretty bad left ear and I know that the brake mouth to deflect the gases of the shot increases the noise level of the same.

Very grateful for your reply,

Oscar.

Hello, I'm going to bother again. I've been reviewing this forum post and I have read that the rifle Cz 550 -caliber 458 Lott and other powerful calibers are prone to breakage of the wood stock. I, as you know, I look forward to receiving a rifle Ceska in this potent caliber and I'm worried after reading these post. I want to ask, is there any way to avoid tearing the butt?, It is very expensive to take these measures?

Thank you,

Oscar.

ovny, it is my understanding that the wooden stock on the CZ needs to be properly cross-pinned and glass bedded to be safe from cracking. If you don't have access to a competent gunsmith handy, you could order a McMillen synthetic stock for the CZ or you might look into a Sako rifle from Finland in .416 Rem.

Even the .416 Rigby needs to be cross bolted and properly bedded. Would not be a bad thing to imbed a piece of threaded rod down through the wrist of the stock.

The .458 Lott will be a bit harder on the stock ... so the same precautions should apply.

Thank you very much both, I thought that the Ceska gun, like others I have seen, as the Winchester M70 had some sort of reinforcement to prevent the decline that generate these cartridges are broken butts. I will learn who can strengthen the butt of my 458 Lott.

Mil gracias, Wink

Oscar.

Look this is what I want to put the butt because I have seen to put a butt fiber McMillan brand is very expensive. The only problem is that such work is done by a dealer (I'm useless with a DIY) because there is that the drilling action of the weapon, and apart from the material I have to pay the dealer's work and has to pay quite .

Best regards,

Oscar.

I have always liked this cartridge, but I discovered the 458 Lott and it is like a woman who gets in the middle of the marriage.

This may be the greatest quote I've heard in the years since I've been posting/reading here. The literal honesty and innocence of OVNY's quotes are absolutely refreshing (apparently he can throw out a kick arse simili as well). I think he's communicating better than any native English speaker on the forum, and I, by no means, am patronizing him... that line is great.

It seems he doesn't reload, or I would say go with the Lott because you could load it down to 416 ballistics and sectional density is irrelevant whenst shooting paper (the ability to shoot 458 win mag rounds is huge too). However, nostalgia seems to be a variable in his decision, so I hope he gets the Rigby. Besides, shooting a 458 Lott to a big bore virgin is similar in experience to having one's appendix explode or getting a cathater for the first time... I'd hate for it to detract him from shooting his new plinker.

Hi, I have chosen to end the 458 lott, and whether prices are too high in Spain. What I want now is whether the butt of Ceska is supported, although I read here that no. That is the butt crack with habitual effect of reversing. Thanks for your reply.

Best regards,

Oscar.
