Speaking from ignorance, but can you build a .470 Capstick from a .416 Rem Mag in a M70? | ||

Yes, basically just a re-barrel, but some minor feedwork might be required. | |||

The .470 Capstick is chambered almost exclusively in bolt-action rifles, whereas the .470NE is chambered mostly in double rifles. The .470 Capstick operates at higher pressures and generates about 300fps more velocity; the .470NE has a long and distinguished record on African big game. If you a die-hard double fan, or care about nostalgia, you would probably pick the .470NE. If don't want to tie up $7-10K on a double rifle, and/or prefer bolt-action magazine rifles, the .470 Capstick would be a good choice. George P.S. I see both of these mentioned frequently but seem to hear the most about the .470 NE. Why would a hunter chose one over the other? | |||
