dogcatRe: Differences between .470 Capstick and .470 NE
Speaking from ignorance, but can you build a .470 Capstick from a .416 Rem Mag in a M70?

Paul HYes, basically just a re-barrel, but some minor feedwork might be required.

GeorgeSThe .470 Capstick is chambered almost exclusively in bolt-action rifles, whereas the .470NE is chambered mostly in double rifles.
The .470 Capstick operates at higher pressures and generates about 300fps more velocity; the .470NE has a long and distinguished record on African big game.
If you a die-hard double fan, or care about nostalgia, you would probably pick the .470NE. If don't want to tie up $7-10K on a double rifle, and/or prefer bolt-action magazine rifles, the .470 Capstick would be a good choice.

P.S. I used a .470 Capstick on the buff in my photo below.

dogcatI see both of these mentioned frequently but seem to hear the most about the .470 NE. Why would a hunter chose one over the other?
