I have no idea if it's true or not, but I tried to order one today as a gift for a business partner, and the distributor told the gun store (David's in Norcross, Georgia) that they could not get the big bores and that they (Daly) were going to drop the Mauser rifle completely from the line due to lack of interest and sales. Distributor said he thinks CZ had a foothold here and that there just isn't enough market for two European Mausers in the American market. (I think this same distributor also reps CZ in and around Atlanta) If this is true, I hope somone else picks up and markets the Zastava Mauser in this country. Frankly, I'm not surprised that they have not been very successful with the line -- at least in the .375 and .458 Win Mag. While the Zastava action is as good as ever, the stock design they chose went out of style in the 1960s, and express sights are not even an option, making it unsuitable for DG use. In other words, no one would ever consider actually using their "Safari Grade" rifle on a safari!

Remington signed a 3.2M USD deal with Zastava is my understanding. Was reported here on the Gunsmithing forum. Was for barreled actions only. https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tp.../783106953#783106953

Chas Daly/Z guns were really horrible quality. The metal was rough, the wood/metal was awful. Hopefully, Remington will import better quality.

I think the attention to detail on the CD rifles is poor, but the basic action, barrels etc. is as good as the old MK X. My brother bought one, his is a 1/2 in. gun, mine is not. However, mine had a severe bedding problem, the front guard screw didn't come close to mating with its mate, when you loosened the rear guard screw, the metal would pop out more than a quarter inch. I fixed this, so hopefully mine will shoot a bit better. The action has some unpolished areas that are above the stock line, which sucks, but hell I paid $279 for it. It also will not CRF on the left side, I think the mag. spring is really weak, I'm going to order a heavier one from Brownell's, this may fix it. A shot not taken is always a miss

Actually the Zastava action ain't all that bad....it's the name "Charles Daly" on it that gives me the lack of confidence.....they're not a real gun company.....and of course they have been bought out by KBI and I'm not sure who they are.....except they chose to retain the CD logo.....assumadly they thought it had sales appeal.... To see the Remington name on the actions may help a bit but the company that really wanted the business was Brownells. Maybe they will be given another shot at it now. Who ever it is that imports them must set some quality standards however that brings the product up to something better than a "Charles Daly" /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
