Reminds of what the British used to say about shooting a WW2 PIAT anti-tank grenade launcher, "The only thing worse than shooting it was being run over by the tank you were shooting at."
------------------ It is not enough to fight for natural land and the west; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it's still there. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends...Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound men with their hearts in a safe-deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards.

I guess he's been reading too many articles from our esteemed gun writers and was not prepared for the 'big slow push'of the 4 bore, we always hear about.
Slow gentle push my a$$. That was superb.

I grew up with that story about F.C.Selous's 4bore muzzle stuffer misfiring and when handed back to his gun-bearer for a quick fix(recapping) the nervous man loaded another 20 drams of black and another 4 oz. bullet. When he let loose that incredible load, old F.C. said he was "spun around like a weathercock in a hurricane". When I saw that video I just about fell out of my chair. I must have watched it 15 times.
