Ron,

Price is right because there is only you and 3 other people what one Big Grin

Note: Those that say these are just Accumarks with non fluted barrels and open sights are wrong. They are basic custom shop rifles like the standard 460 Deluxe. That is why 460s all shoot and the bullet is almost a light tap fit down the freebore.

I have had not had a chance to ring Wby yet but a quick call from you will confirm (I am sure) that the drop box is something that just goes straight onto the rifle and about $150US. If you ring Wby ask for Kevin Nunes as he is in the custom shop and is the main man. A real good bloke to deal with, very helpful etc.

The shop selling this also has a new Safari in 375 H&H with top wood and only $5000US. Another calibre Wby can't give away.

There are some 375 H&H and 458 Lotts in DGR in Australian gun shop for $2500US "new" and there would be give away on those prices. And that is after freight and import taxes to Australia.

Wby obvuously over estimated the number of collectors that would buy this stuff in 375 H&H, 375 Wby and 458 Lott.

378 and 460 is where it is at...at Wby. Big Grin

Mike..I have this model in the 378 and 460 myself. These are fantastic rifles. The rear sight needs needs to be worked on as the rear sight tends to shift left to right. A punch mark on the inside of the dovetail base took care of the shifting as there is no set screw to hold inside sight in place. mark5 action is as smooth as silk.

They tried that at my office until I said, "Then I will have to work from home from now on."

So they took guns off the prohibited list.

500groans,
I am impressed. Try that with the Feds and see where it gets you, unless ... you might be King of the World?

Mike375,
.375 Wby is tempting, Hendershots eh? I will have to see what my dealer says about that price.

Mike,
My dealer says he can get a .378 Wby Mk V DG for about $2500, but the Hendershot folks must have a corner on the market of ready-made .375 Wby Mk V DG (2001 leftover).

I figured it out: anyone savy enough to use a .375 Wby would be savy enough to use a CRF action for it. I already have three of those. Hence poor demand for Mk V in .375 Wby. Lots of other good rifles for .375 Wby conversion, as previously stated.

Now, your .378 Weatherby DG with the drop box for 3 down in vertical stack PF makes sense! So what about barrel length? I wanna start a new thread about 22" barrel length for a .378 Weatherby and see how I get flamed and BLASTED!

RIP,

You have three 375 Wbys. I have two 378s and a third coming!!!

Here is Hendershot again with 375 H&H and the Drop Box fitted. This is the dear rifle with the Desert Camo and Titanium Nitride finish

But it shows the drop box.

Ron,

Does the 375/338 Lapua exist as this stage. That would be a very easy conversion for a vertical stack 378 Mark V.

What with the rimless case one could become almost half respectable.

By the way, that would be a nice looking cartridge.

Mike375,
I see. The drop box allows 4 down in .375 H&H or .375 Wby. But it allows 3 down in .378 Wby.

You know, using a .378 in the dropbox-DGR configuration will be akin to finding a replacement for fossil fuels in this polluted world. Makes a lot of sense but will go against the status quo.

It will be met with derision from the sheep.

Weaterby rifles, 378, 416 and 460 Wbys and of course the 375 Ultra are the counterpart of a forum terrorist on AR.

One day 500 Grains is going to be on a thread where Weatherby rifles, 378 and Rem 700 and 375 Ultra will be all there together.....I will need call to 000 for emergency services Big Grin

I think I told you that I was able to buy a Weatherby Safari Custom Classic that had not been fired. 130 were made in 1993. This is really bad. Made in Japan Wby, 375 H&H with quarter rib, barrel band front sight and sling swivel. Big Grin
