Hello the camp.

Need some thoughts and advice on reloading for the 577 3 1/4" NE.
Not for a double but a sturdy single shot, so regulation is not an issue.

I was looking to use 3" data and go from there.

Any info welcome.

For a single shot, use any data and loads you wish. For a single tube rifle, recoil may be a factor in heavier loads. I had a single shot Jeffery .600 I shot with everything from .45-70 equivalent to full-house loads with no accuracy problems. Recoil knocked me into next week with 900 grains and 1850 fps, however.

PS. I sold it!

I have some 577 Nitro data listed on the B&M site that you can get started with anyway, some of the work that Sam and I have done with his doubles......

Find it under Additional Research main page, all the way at the bottom a pdf document that you can download..... Maybe it gets you started anyway.....

For all my nitro loads I use IMR 4831 as it fills the case to the base of the bullet except for the .450 and .475 no2s. In the .600 double I use 160 grains to the the regulated velocity of 1900fps (26-inch barrel).

Falling Block Works L Action.
Made in Maybee MI.
Large scale Hi Wall essentially.

Builder unknown.
From the collection of the guy who commissioned the 2 bore Jones underlever that Colin Stolzer built.

It was already 3 1/4" chamber no choice.
Bell 577 NE Basic brass can be formed into 3 1/4".

More to come.

My 600JDJ is a 3" 577 simply blown out to 620. For light plinking loads with cast or jacketed bullets you can use a fast-non-position sensetive powder like 5744 or Trail Boss without a filler. I have used a lot of IMR-4198 (roughly 70grs) with fiber filler & an 800gr cast bullet for around 1500 fps. If you want to juice up some 900grns then go to 4350-4831 like Cal says to fill the case or a lighter medium burn powder like Varget, 748, 4064, RL-15 types but i would use a filler with them as I've had hang-fires with them when not filling the case.

I have my 585HE in a Model L FBW, a real nice action
and it takes high pressures fine, 650gr at 3000,
a 13,000 ft lb load. I fit it in a one
piece thumbhole rifle stock, pics are
in the 585HE thread.

We also use 3" 577 brass to make same bore
size 24ga FH, and chamber can use shorter magtech
brass as well as plastic cases.Ed

I am out of town.
Will post one when I get back.
May not show much as scale will be small
This sucker has a 28" barrel.
I am thinking about 2" chop and barrel band front sight.
Add some weight in butt as it is nose heavy.
Need gun bearer any takers ?
