I haven't got the a-square book on me at the moment. What was art alphins formula for his penetration index, or did he not include it?
I can't remember.

Karl.

Penetration Index:
"The Penetration Index is calculated by dividing kinetic energy with the area of the bullet and multiplying the resulting quotient by the sectional density."

If you simplify the formula, you will find that the fundamental relation is proportional to the momentum divided by the area. The actual numerical value is squared, divided by 2 etc. I suppose this is an improvement on the older momentum theories.

This number, called "momentum density" is a basic value calculating the penetration of solid materials by warheads etc. including "bazookas" and the like.

For penetration on game see also grosswildjagd.de
