Any chance you could expand on this? I'm trying to imagine it, I've got the bits but have not seen mention of this before.

sure .. the riveted one has an obvious front and back ... you drill, drive, cut out the rivets ... file off the "notches" at the top of the front and back... then take 3 cases, rubber band them together ... super glue them ... and then you will be properly aligned for feeding ... put 2 playing cards on each side, and solder/weld the box back together around it.

Jim's article does a much better job of explaining
I put it on weaponsmith... but can't find it

I tinkered with a few P-14 and 1917's. Is it possible to just use a 1917 box? Also which follower should you use or do you need to modify the P14 or 1917 follower?

The worst part of these P-14/1917 projects is getting them to feed! I made a couple of 375 H&H, a 300 Weatherby and a 416 Rigby. Numrich GPC use to have kits and instructions for the extra long magnums, but they still were hard to get them to feed well.

I've got a P-14 recevier that has been converted for magnum that I would much rather have the original rails for 303 british. I'd like to make a .375 nitro express and the mag conversion isn't a good place to start from.

I'd gladly trade for an original, unaltered rails action. I'm pretty sure I have a magnum mag box with it also, and it's a commercial item, not a conversion.
