Holland's 400-375 belted nitro express
Just bought a Holland and Holland takedown rifle in 400-375 belted NE. It is a MS 1903 action with the Holland takedown system. With it, I got a set of custom dies and found that cases can be made from 240 Weatherby brass. I cast the bore and found it to be .371 instead of .375. Has anyone here loaded and shot this round? Do you think there would be a major problem firing .375 jacketed bullets in it? I will have the rifle with me in Houston this weekend at the HGCA gun show along with my new C&H 318 WR and my new 404 Jeffery that Tip Burns built for me. Hope to see a lot of AR members there!

It sounds like quite sweet and special rifle.
Could you post a picyure of it?

Cheers,

André

I have one original Kynoch cartridge for it. I have tried to contact Quality cartridge but they never answer the phone!

Just got off the phone with Pete at Quality. He is a nice fellow. They use .375 diameter bullets in their loaded ammo. I ordered three boxes of brass and will try my luck with the 270 gr. .375 bullets I have on hand.

Mike,
"Handloader" # 185, Feb/Mar 1997 has some loading info in an article entitled "A Trio of British Cartridges", including how to form cases from 240 Weatherby. You may want to consider trying some 235 gr Speers, I've used them with good results in 375 2.5 and 375 rimless (9.5x57).
Have fun!
