that's just a little more "play money" than the wife is going to allocate me for 2010-2011 combined.

But, nice!

Ya' know it's a great idea in theory, but I would be willing to bet when you need the reach of the 700 you will have the 4 bore barrel affixed and when you need the punch of the 4 bore you will have the 700 barrel on the rifle.

Cute, but totally impractical.

I think it is the .935" 4bore size that
that most 4bore guns over the years have
been built in.Ed

I have to disagree with you. Either the 4 bore or the 700 will take out anything on the planet. I don't see that it makes much difference which barrel is attatched. With the light 1250 grain balls, you can get close to the 700 range with the 4 bore. And yes 1250 grains is small for even an english 4 bore. Really about a true 6 bore would be my guess. Engraving looks good to me. I would love to add this to my collection of big bores but no cash right now.

Per http://www.hallowellco.com/bore_size_chart.htm

site 4 Bore should be 1.052" diameter.

There was a thread just a few weeks back where it was explained that some British guns were considered 4 bore if they fired 1/4 pound lead projectile. A round ball gun was 1 inch but a 1/4 pound connical would be closer to 0.9

A gun might appear to be undersize, but in reality the more effective gun might have been the one fired a 1/4 pound conical behind a heavy charge. IMHO, what are called 6 bore today, were the more effective killers back in the day. That is, those with heavy charges and 1/4 pound bullets.

So; no one else would like to see Pedersoli build a blue collar version of these guns? My dream, ...

That was said tongue in cheek, hence the " Smiler".

I was just parroting what you always read regarding the usual small bore/big bore(ie. 300wm/458wm) switch barrels.
