I have seen it mentioned on here before but am curious who had used the Sarco MSR239 MK10 MSR MAGNUM Rifle Stock. I have a Mark X .375 in a McMillan stock and am considering changing it to a Whitworth-style wood stock. The price is right but I am unsure about the quality.

Anyone?

I have not seen the Sarco version. A couple of years ago I bought one from Numrich. It was a late model with the grove cut for the cross pin floor release. It was a good stock for the money. Thought I had a picture but can't find it.

As usual just my $.02

I wonder if that stock would work with a browning FN in 458?

If it is set up for a .375-length box it may need some work. Hopefully someone knows for sure.

The one I had the mag box area was open for the 375 box it also looked unused. So either the 375 or 458 would drop in. The box is extended over the floorplate. The floorplate for the 375&458 are the same. As to the FN the MKX has a side safety. Just a little cosmetics. Normally the floorplates are real close.

Maybe I'll just buy one on a flyer and see how it looks. I paid my VISA bill this morning so the sky's the limit (well not quite...).

Thanks, an sorry for hijacking the thread. Do they come with a cut out for the barrel mounted recoil lug? I wonder how close the Browning FNs and the interarms magnums are with this lug? Anyone also know how the barrel channel is cut? How heavy were the interam barrels.

I think they are a late Whitworth stock. I'll also bet if you call, they are out of them. At least they were a year or so ago when I called. If they have one, I'd like to have one.

Strange they keep it on the web site if it has been out of stock so long. Guess I need to call tomorrow.

If it is like the one I bought from them a couple of years ago, it was fairly plain and light in weight. It was not, as I recall, inlet for the barrel lug. I put a 458 in it and glass bedded it, after about 40 rounds it cracked behind the mag well. I went back and glued it, steel bedded it and added a rear crossbolt and it worked fine until we rechambered to the 458 Lott. It was too light then for comfort and I restocked it with a nice piece of dense Bastogne.I gave the MkX to ELS here on the board for a Browning 458 he had. Don't know, but suspect all is fine. It was also for the crossbolt style floorplate release. On your 375, I would use steel bed on both lugs and you should be fine. If you guys want to restock one, I have my original Whitworth that we did up as a pattern with minor improvements like framing the bolt stop and filling in the bolt handle recess so you can shape for a custom handle. I will loan it to you if you want to have someone cut a stock off of it.

Per Sarco this morning they are sold out. I guess they keep them on the website in case they get some more in.

I just saw this part of your post. I appreciate the offer and will keep it in mind if I decide to spend the money to have a blank turned.

Thanks!

I may be able to solve your problem. I have a very good Whitworth original stock with an original pad and a Decelerator pad just sitting here waiting for guts.
