I like reading your post, because I'm obsessed with change and so far I've read that the 458 is quite powerful Lott (Ripper hehe). I have heard it is a size often used by professional hunters and something should be. Regards, Oscar. I am Spanish My forum:www.armaslargasdecaza.com

As bwanamrm noted in the "What a PH carries" thread, Gerard Miller of Tanzania carries a 460 Weatherby made by Duane Wiebe. I haven't hunted with Mr. Miller but have had the pleasure of handling the rifle. This is Mr. Miller's second or third 460. Having spent ten days hearing Mr. Miller's stories at the dinner table, I can tell you that his allegiance to the 460 is not based on conjecture. Dabney

The only downside of the 460 to me is the 26 inch bbl in the bush it may get hung up which is just a hassle

I did a little shooting with it in 2005 across RSA, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. Thread below is ancient by now, but it should answer your question. 460 WBY and Barnes-X on Big 5

. Have had as many as six 460 Weatherbys at one time. Have used the 460 Wby in Africa with good results. Believe every one should have one. .

The 460 wby is a WONDERFUL starting point for a 500a2. I own the CZ 458 Lott. I'm sure the 460 WBY could kill any animal on this earth. I know my Lott can. I have read of different animals being killed with the 460 WBY and my 458 Lott.

I think it's a bit on the light side for prairie dogs...... "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Semper Fidelis "Building Carpal Tunnel one round at a time"

Just how much does a 460 WBY with a run of the mill factory loading kick? Assume a well fitted and weighted rifle and compare with 458Winmag if possible. Thanks.

I just came back to this thread. On reflection, I believe that I should say something positive about the .460 Roy, so that I will not be told, again, that I am being "silly." Ok. Here goes: The .460 WBY is a less hideous and less useless round than the .378 WBY. There ya' go. I feel much better now: not silly.

Well have you thought about a 505 gibbs. That rifle can kill any animal anyware. The Lott can also but not as fast.

The 505 Gibbs and 500 Jeffery (both I like) are prohibited in Spain, being considered as of war. Oscar. I am Spanish My forum:www.armaslargasdecaza.com

What war was a 505 or 500 Jeff used in? Or is it a .50 caliber thing?

I'm considering a long range rifle on a Lawton action in 378 Weatherby. Brass is more available than 375 Cheytac....

Hello, the prohibition is based on the diameter of the projectile and the type of sheath that have both cartridges (rimmles), yet 500 NE if you can hold and use. Spain is different. Best regards, Oscar. I am Spanish My forum:www.armaslargasdecaza.com
