we've done all of the 416, 458, 470, and 500 AccRels on ruger 77s .. and the 7mag to 458 AccRel is pretty darn good .. hornady dies, brass from qualcart - can be ordered from midway, and better than 458 lott performance

500 accrel? just sent the 77 to mcgowen .. they have all the stuff, on hand!

the 416 is obviated by the 416 ruger .

and for something really cool.. the 470 AccRel is always bigger than a 45/70!

For the Ruger No1 I'd toss out the following ideas:

First: Either the 450/400 a good practical choice and traditional for the No1 styling. Offered by Ruger, but you could build to your specs. Or the 450NE for bigger and more bullet selection.

Second: I like idea of a 45/70 in a No1 with more than a 22" barrel. Most fun for the buck and with right loads suitable for any NA big game. I think the Ruger 45/70 offering is too light. (or a 45/90 for little more of a good thing)

Third: A little different might be the big fifty, 50 Sharps in 2 1/2 case.

I have a 458 Win Mag take-off barrel for a Ruger #1, perfect condition, has the front sight but is missing the quarter rib, if you need one ($100 shipped). fla3006@yahoo.com

Here's a great idea for you;

Buy this barrel, and make yourself a real nice No 1 in 450 Nitro Express nr 2 Cool

Strong brass, and you can go between 2000 - 2400 fps with a 500 gr RN !
