Wasn't there some talk a couple of months back that Ruger and Hornady were going into the .450-400 business? Was that just rumor?

Just remember, we are dealing with Ruger here....famous for announcing products and than taking months to years to introduce them. I hope that they will actually be available next year, but sure ain't going to hold my breath!

My biggest concern is that the Ruger will hit the street at the same time as the Spartan double and I will be able to afford neither ...

It'll probably be after the first 9.3x74R #1 is sighted, which were announced before the 450/400.

I've been on the 9.3x74R waiting list at 3 gun stores since they were announced, haven't gotten a phone call yet.

Ruger usually tests the waters for 12-18 months before they do anything. If they do not get enough bites sometimes it NEVER happens. They also have a new chairman just this week who is on the board of directors and from his previous corporate track record if there are not big enough dollar signs flashing it's gone before it ever happens. So I would not hold my breath, borrowing and adding to the words of 577 NitroExpress, "The second coming of Christ might happen before the Ruger or the Spartan goes on sale."

Dirk: You are probably right. The new chairman will be interested only in "maximizing value for the shareholders," not pleasing customers. Sometimes I think capitalism sucks, and then I think of those poor communist devils in North Korea eating grass, and I guess it is not so bad after all. But it isn't always respectful of dreams.

Bill, we need to harass Ruger. If they want "feelers" a good swift kick should do!
