I've never used A-Frames or Bear Claws. I'm planning to take my 416 Rem on a buffalo hunt in the BVC later this year. I'm looking for experienced opinions on these two bullets. Thanks!! TBD Go Duke!!

I have used the Bear Claws myself, and have seen the Swifts being used. Both worked very well. You should not see much difference in performance in the 416 Remington. At higher velocities, I would prefer to use the Bear Claws, as the Swifts tend to loose the lead from the rear cavity.

When I started developing a load for my 416 Rem to take to Africa I was looking for something I could use for buffalo if needed but also might flatten out the trajectory a bit. I loaded a 370 gr North Fork (similar in design to the trophy bonded projectile) to 2520 FPS.i basically submitted this gun for a general purpose rifle (375 on steroids). I actually took my buffalo at 25 YDS with a 470 double but shot about everything else with the 416 on the trip. The 370 NF's did a great job. I used a 500 NF sold shank soft in the 470. It knocked the snot out of the buffalo and shot clean through both should and off into the dirt. No second shot required.. I did shoot a zebra straight on into the chest with the 416 and found the bullet in the hind quarter. Perfect mushroom. Bang flop at 125 yds. The NF's have about doubled in price since i initially acquired them. Consistanty accurate and dependable. Used RL 15 as my propellant. EZ

I have used A-Frame bullets on several buffalo and they work very well. Great penetration. No experience with the Bear Claw. Both bullets have a great reputation.

Texas This link may be a good read for you. At least give you fodder for thought. Good luck on that BVC hunt-you should love it. https://www.shakariconnection....lets-for-africa.html

I have shot a small mountain of buff mostly with 416 Remington and the A-Frames. I have no plans to switch. Love them.

I've shot a butt load of dangerous game with Trophy Bonded Bear Claws. All DRT. I've also used Swift A-Frames, Nosler Partitions, Barnes. Like Saeed said, both work. I have hunted the BVC twice. Both times using Trophy Bondeds exclusively for all dangerous and plains game hunted there.

I have used the TBBC bullets and have never had any cause for complaint. I have never used Swift's A-Frame bullets, but I did buy some once for hand loading. Just never got around to it. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

The Nosler partitions may not quite be in the same generation of the bonded bullets or mono's however I understand a few years back on the 375 caliber and up they moved the partition forward a bit so even when the front core is potentially shed they should maintain close to 80% of their origional weight. Those beneath 375 caliber from my understanding still are designed to maintain at least 62% of their original weight. In my life I have never found a NP in an animal body cavity. All pass throughs. I have not shot any African game with them but plenty of very large animals (3 Alaskan moose) broadside. I do choose my shots carefully. EZ

I've killed 3 buff with the Swift A-frames. They worked perfectly and shoot extremely accurate in both my .416 Rem Mags (I've had two different Winchester 70 Safari Expresses in .416 Rem Mag). After sighting them in (dead on at 100yds), I have never had to adjust the sight again. This includes 3 roundtrips to Africa from the USA. These were Remington factory loads, as I do not reload. I would never hunt buffalo with anything else (unless my wife bought me a double in .470 NE). BH63 Hunting buff is better than sex!
