Like pouring gas on an open flame. You know...with all the water filled jugs you guys would make a great milk commercial. Imagine...drink your milk for strong bones and high tolerance for recoil clap

Maybe even have Jeffe with a big stupid milk mustache holding the 550 Express. lol

Just wanted to update you guys on this thread. Gunsmith called me this morning to tell me the gun was complete. Went and picked it up and I am more than happy with my decision.

Granted, it is still in the white and will remain that way until xmas probably. Going to spend the afternoon tommorrow refinishing the stock and grinding the recoil pad with Jeffe. All-in-all...month and a half turnaround from start to finish...can't complain about that. I will post pics as soon as the stock is complete.

Keith, any site of those pesky milk jugs or are we in search of the plywood elephant now?

Jimmy, glad to hear that you are now big bore armed and ready for combat with the herd of jugs. Will let you know when jug herd reaches dangerous levels.

Why use a 458 Lott for anything other than dangerous game? It's fun. Besides when you shoot a deer, elk etc., it goes down like Thor's hammer hit it and there is MUCH less tissue, (meat) damage. One .458 hole going in and one .458 hole going out.:-)
I have friends that use 416 Rigbys for deer and elk and another friend that uses a 375 H&H for antelope here in Idaho. They are collectors and have many choices but almost always choose the big calibers. They load with lighter bullets that are flatter shooting of course but they use the "big boys" almost exclusively.

I think big boreitus is something everyone should become infected with!!! You are a better man for it, but no real cure. If you get one, you always want another one....just a little bit bigger.

Well it looks like the rifle turned out to be quite a shooter. Just playing around at the range today with Jeffe in attendence we threw 15 rounds total down range mostly to sight in and play with a few loads. Last 8 shots made one ragged hole that measured a bit less than 1/2" at 50 yards. All that with a factory trigger and a scope set on 2x...all in all I am pleased.
