At the advice of someone I emailed Hornady about purchasing 505 Gibbs reloading dies. This was there response:

Yes, Hornady Mfg. Co. can manufacture custom made dies for the .505 or .550 Gibbs cartridges. They will require 1"x12 dia. dies and the price is $490.00 plus $18.50 delivery charge that totals $508.50. Once we have received [3] fired cases and payment, turn-around time is 6 to 8 weeks in house plus delivery time to the customer.
The best to you in reloading, shooting, & hunting!

Anyone else have a REASONABLE source for these?

RCBS....

418.99 on Midway USA....

They are not "custom" as you are not sending them fired cases. But they do come with the thread adapter, shell holder not included (but Midway has that to...

I second the suggestion to contact CH4D.

Their website is CH4D.com

Maybe they're also made of gold.

Contact Lee dies. They built my 606 Mammoth dies for only $100 per set with a $200 set up fee. Even for one set it's less than RCBS or Hornady and pretty close to C&H. Given the choice between C&H and Lee I would personally choose the later. Perhaps you could organize a buy group to break up the set-up fee. Marshall Jones

btw, it is 1x14 not 1x12, just so no one gets a wrong part on order.

Email Lonnie back, remind him that the 505 is a STANDARD round, and that a die reamer is $165 from manson ... and 3 feet of 1x14 is 14$!!!!

I think the 490 is the 550 gibbs price, which is what he quoted me for a 550 flanged price... and I ordered my own reamer.

if you have a "standard" gibbs, the dies are like 169 from CH4D, and $15 for the bushing for you press.
