I've been loading 88grs of RL15 under a 500 Hornady. I got this load from the reloading pages here. The load is for a 450 Vincent but the two are twins. I've got no signs of pressure at all. It shoots great and velocity is 2397fps over my cronograph. Brass is Norma 404J. Primers are 215MM.
Pierre over at BBSA says that this load should be a very high pressure load.
I'm confused and unsure as to my load now. Does anyone here load for this round??

gumboot458, the case length is 2.5" OAL is 3.450 to the rifleing, seated to 3.360
That was my first test load. It worked so well, 25 rounds tested, that i didn't think about trying anything else.

jeffeosso, thanks for the help..time to experiment with some more powders. I'm going to back my load off to 82gr and work up and see what the cronograph tells me.

Well, i tested some loads while working at the range. 82gr of RL15 gave me 2250fps with the 500gr Hornady. It's much more pleasent to shoot and still shoots really well. thumb

Well, your velocities match the Vincent Short at both loads. So what's the problem, if you see no signs of high pressure?

Will, no problem, just beening carefull. I had no signs of pressure at all at 88gr but 82gr is more fun to shoot. Wink It's nice to know it'll go to that level if needed. I'd like to get some 550gr woodleigh's and try them. Eeker

....Ol Bull .. You might try taking 1 new brass and see how many times you can reload it with the 88 gr load .... From what I understand if you get 6 firings or more then your pressures are fine ..??
No doubt 2200 fps would be more fun to shoot ....
2400 fps is what the 460 Short A-Sq. gets btw, but you probably get 1 more round in the mag ...

It'll hold 4 down + 1.. Wink..and thats a good idea, i'll take a case and see how long it lasts. I'll keep track of measurements and see! Thanks Gumboot458 salute
On another note i'm thinkin about adding 1LB to it and bring it up to 10.5lbs..That'll help alot Wink
