The sheep hunting bug bit me pretty hard and I'm headed to Kyrgyzstan next year. I've been reading up on Asain hunting. I have/have read:

"Ovis Ammon" by: Madrazo
"Royal Quest" by: (our own) Bill Quimby
"Obsessed" by: Golabchi
"Song of the Summits" by: Yurren
"Yoshi" by: Yoshimoto
"Game Masters of the World" by: Klineburger
"Hunting Trips in the Land of the Czars" by: Czech
"Hunting Trips in the Land of the Dragon" by: Czech
"Shikar" by: Dean Witter
Jim Corbet's Jungle Collection
"From the Hymalayas to the Rockies" by: Michell & Frisina
"A Trophy Hunter in Asia" by: Gates

I've pretty well worn out the Safari Press stock for Asian sheep/goat/mountain hunting, so I'm needing suggestions. What can you recommend for Asia?

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

This looks like a good start, but any suggestions on which ones?

It's interesting to see that your list includes three books that I've written. May I also suggest two more: "McElroy Hunts Asia" and "Wind in My Face"?

Add to your list:

"Memories of A Sheep Hunter" by Rashid Jamsheed (this guy shot a lot of sheep)
"Magnificent Obsession" by Israel Torres
"Asian Hunter" by Capt John Brandt (Brandt tried to duplicate Mellon's African Hunter but for Asia)
"Wind, Dust and Snow- Great Rams of Asia" by Robert Anderson

These should help you get some sleepless nights dreaming about Kyrgyzstan.

A couple more that I just saw on my shelf and enjoyed:

"Addicted to the Altitude - Confessions of a Mountain Hunter" by Mark Hampton (current book with recent hunts)
"Mongolian Hunter" by Patrick Steward

I would like to read "Those were the days" by Rudolf Sand but I can't find an affordable copy for sale.

Brett, here is a quote that I read last night that relates to your sheep hunting bug that I am also unfortunately catching. It is by Jack Atchinson in Gilchrist's "Trophy Rams of the Brooks Range" I may have a plaque made with this quote on it.

"The more you hunt sheep, the more miserable they make you feel. When you finally do get a shot at your trophy ram, you're not quite sure if you're shooting for sport and the magnificent challenge they represent or if it's pure hate, and you won't be happy until they are all dead. I don't quite know what my own reasons are, but I think sheep are worth it."

So far, no one has mentioned the many books on hunting in India, including the man-eating tiger and leopard hunting classics by Jim Corbett, or the roof-of-the-world hunts by Theodore Roosevelt's sons Theodore and Kermit.

Incidentally, I have many of the titles listed above and am in the process of thinning my library. Let me know what you're looking for. I may have a copy for sale.
