Got a new SBE 3. Dedicated 3 inch chamber. My experience finds the 3 inch 12s shoot light loads very reliably including 1 ounce loads at 1145 fps. They also pattern well. In both categories, I prefer the 3 inch guns over the 3 1/2 inch cousins. The configuration is discontinued having Optifade Timber and Blue, Tungsten cerekote with 28 inch barrel. Factory extended tunes patter just as well as 200 dollar chokes. I also prefer the metal rib of the SBE3 over the Ethos Carbon Fiber silliness. I shit 20 for 25 on 35-40 yard quartering going away clays today. This is the 8th personal Benelli SBE3, Legacy, or Ethos in the stable. Technically, I need the bigger pas for just a little bit more length of pull.

I thought the difference between the SBE and the other Benellis was just the 3.5” chamber. I’ve been using my 80’s vintage SBE for almost all my waterfowl shooting and the only time it gives me trouble is if I try and use 3/4 Oz loads for trap/targets. I’ve got a newer one as well, but still first generation (SBE before they started calling them 2-3, etc) that works as well. I’ve shot a SBE3 that didn’t like 1 1/8 Oz game (upland) loads when traveling (outfitters gun). Nothing seems to fit me as well as the older benelli pattern stocks (I have like 6-7 benellis total). The new stocks seem to drop my hit percentage by 15-20% and I’ve heard folks saying they tend to shoot low… I keep getting new guns, and just keep using the same old ones for hunting… go figure.

No, Benelli introduces a dedicated 3 inch SVE 3 about 4 years ago. I line them. Like I said, mine feed light loads great and better than the 3 1/2 guns. The 3 inch guns have the seperate top receiver that separates from barrel extension. Most folks complain the new Benellis shoot too high. The 3 inch SBE3s shoot great.
