I was at a gun show last week and I came upon a Remington Model 31 in excellent shape. The nice thing about it is it came with two barrels 26 and 28 inch.
The gentlemen wanted 550.00$.I figured with two barrels that was a fair price. It points great and cycles very nice. The serial number is 125810.
Those who have them and use them are you happy with them.

short and fat and hard to get at, hit like a hammer and never been hit back.

Avoid those with aluminum receivers. And I don't care for those with steel frames and aluminum trigger guards. Much prefer the short compact steel guard, not the extended version with the tang in the stock. Another big plus is a factory solid rib. VRs are pretty scarce, mainly on skeet or trap guns. Hand checkering was on the "deluxe" versions, fairly scarce. The barrel sets should be numbered to the receiver.
