Big Sam:

Never used a Rem. barrel but did use a Hastings 24" barrel on an 11-87. I bought the barrel and a Leupold 4x scope from a local gunshop. I couldn't believe the groups I got at 50 yards using variously 2 3/4" and 3" inch shells. (If memory serves me the 3"shells were sabot loads) I had groups of less than three inches. My suggestion would be to use the Hastings barrel because it's a 24" inch barrel. It does seem that if the barrel is longer, the slug will be more accurate. (I have noticed that Remington has increased the length of its rifled slug barrel from 20" to 22". Maybe they're better now. I have had no experience with the Rem. barrels)
