Just last week I picked up a copy of the new 2005 Remington Firearms, Ammunition, and Accessories catalog at the Prince George's County Trap & Skeet Center. That catalog contains a number of pages of guns -- SXS, Single Shot, and O/U shotguns; and Single Shot rifles and O/U rifle/shotgun combinations -- under the Spartan Gunworks name. I asked the person manning the counter there, and he said that these look like Baikal guns. So the claim that Remington is importing Baikal guns, under a different name, seems to be true. Whether or not Remington has bought out Baikal I cannot say. Suggested prices are not given in this catalog, or at least I haven't been able to find them there. "How's that whole 'hopey-changey' thing working out for ya?"

Good for Baikal. I'll bet the CEO of Yukos would like to have been bought out by Exxon/Mobil before Pooty Poot threw him in debtors' prison. H. C.
