I went to a gunshow today and picked up a new digisight for $1200.00 in cash today (I hope that was a good deal). The dealer extended's the warenty out to 5 years. My new bolt gun should be good to-go by the end of the week. NV should be sighted in by then. No moon tonight, so I took a walk down the block, the street lights made it hard to see just what it would do. I will need a stronger IR light to go with it. My green led works with it I was not sure it would pick up the light but it does. I got a place I can go and watch a few pigs at a feeder one night this week. I will report back. The dealer had a 100 lumes IR lazer/light for 400 bucks is that a good deal? JD DRSS 9.3X74 tika 512 9.3X74 SXS Merkel 140 in 470 Nitro

JD, I'll try to call tomorrow.. you made the right choice on the digi .. you need to spend some time learning it.. the SUM button makes it much brighter... sometimes grainy ... i have taken them way out past 100 .. and can define between pig and deer out past 300 .. and can see "thingie" past 500, on a 3/5- 3/4 moon night. i am interested in the luna laser.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...soEE&feature=related opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? J D, As Jeffe said, take the time to get to know it well. Well enough to operate it by feel in the dark. WOW ... that must be one heck of an IR illuminator to cost $400. JD, You can buy excellent all GLASS IR lenses of different diameters, to fit over various sizes of flashlights or lamp light lens, so when they are turned on, one can't see any visible light, only the IR illumination through IR scopes, etc. For example, I bought just such an IR glass lens of appropriate diameter, to fit over end of powerful flashlight, and it works beautifully for viewing out to around 100 yards, with no problem. Lens cost around $50., so such a proposition will cost very little. Same thing can be done on a smaller scale, using LED small flashlight with appropriate dia. IR lens, for viewing shorter distances. I made one up some time back, with Radio Shack mercury switch, so that it would come on automatically when rifle was held in horizontal position for shooting (in areas where it is legal), while remaining off whenever rifle were held in any other position.
