George Koumbis, owner of Shooters Depot in Corpus Christi,Texas, was killed last night in a shootout with armed robbers. George was an innovator in suppressor designs. I spent countless hours talking with him in his shop about machining, laser welding, Greek food, Greek history, his personal history, pistol and rifle shooting, politics, and my big bores-which he always wanted to build devices for.

George was a class II mfg and a class III dealer.

George was my friend and will be sorely missed.

My condolences.

Mr. Koumbis was one of the few fellow Georges of Greek extraction I hadn't met.

Unfortunately no. They either rushed him or took him by surprise. Another employee was also shot but has been released from hospital and is recovering.

Two of the four bastards involved have been apprehended. It was premeditated and they are being charged with capital murder.

Funeral services are tomorrow 9 Sep 2016 at Maxwell P Dunn funeral home on Morgan ave 6-730pm.

Sorry to hear about that, Andy. I never met George but I know you thought a lot of him. I hope they find the other two and hang them all.

Talking with his wife friday, I got more details and well, THE LITTLE COWARDS SHOT HIM IN THE BACK. He didn't have a chance to defend himself.

George is in a better place now.

Another of the wanted little bastards turned himself in-guess he figured it would be safer for him that way.

I hear through the grapevine, one of George's friends-who can best be compared to Crecy played by Denzel Washington in the movie Man On Fire-is in town and he is not happy.

It gets worse.

George did not have anyone else on his FFL as a Responsible Person. I know another dealer in town that is also a Class III that is helping sort through all of his stuff. It is all going to a special auction house dealing in NFA items. The business is done for.

Maybe I can buy some machine tools out of this deal-lathe and Bridgeport mill.

I purchased two rifles with the sole intent of having them suppressed by George. Now I don't know what I am going to do with them.

I just saw this thread. Any idea of the motive?
Answered my own question:
" They found one of the victim's cars, which appears to be stolen in the robbery, abandoned on Corn Products Road. Firearms stolen from the store were inside the vehicle."
