I'm looking for something shorter and lighter to use on my smaller (223-ish) bolt rifles. When I hang my 308 rated steel can on the front end it just seems I'm wielding a golf bag around.

Is the Gemtech Trek any good? Or is there another brand/model that is in that size/weight range?

NOTE: I'm talking about the Titanium version Trek

I'm not familiar with that particular unit, but after using my 7.62 Specwar on my light carbine, I went ahead and bought the 5.56 Specwar for the exact reason you mention.

I think that you're on the right track.

The local Gemtech dealer told me they aren't making the Ti Trek any longer. I'm getting revved up to buy one of the lighter/shorter Thunderbeasts.

I've settled on the Yankee Hill Machine Turbo.

Small package, tubeless design, Inconel blast baffle.
