I am a collector of Shotshell Crates. After WWI there were too many shotshell variations compared to today. There was no Standard length 2 1/2 to 3 + . They came up with 2 3/4 as a Standard for 12ga 16g. 20ga. 10 stayed at 2 7/8. It took until after WWII for it to be final.Along the way 3 inch came in 12,16,20,410.Big 10 to 3 1/2 as Standards. | |||
