Anyone know the value of "ready to shoot" 7 mm pinfire ammo? I have some, not for sale, but the only place I've got any info from was a chap in Britain who was selling a handgun chambered for the round. He was selling the pistol for 10,000 british pounds, but had no idea of the value of ammunition, as he had never seen any.
Thanks,

Asking how much a 7mm Pinfire is worth is like asking how much an automobile is worth. Lots of different kinds. We'd need a lot more info to make a good estimate. I can tell you, in general, that a plain vanilla variety is probably worth no more than a couple of bucks.

The side says;

Other side says;

The head stamp says; 7

That's all I can tell you other than it's not for sale, I was just interested to find out any info any ya'll had on it. Price, vintage, etc....

Sounds like a common cartridge, as I said, worth a couple of bucks at most. If the box is original and in good condition it is probably worth more than the cartridge.

Just read this post. Sorry for the late reply. The "pinfire" came from a joint effort of Confederate General PTG Beauregard and Dr. Lefauxcheau. Normally, the South used the 5 & 7 mm pinfire. The North the more common 9, 12 and 15 mm. There are long and short versions. Your 7 mm at a CW auction could fetch $20-$25 per cartridge. A box of 50 with original box would bring more or less depending upon verification of wartime provinance. CS General "Stonewall" Jackson carried a pinfire as his sidearm. Having metal detected and dug over 14,000 civil war projectiles, they are my field of study. LDK

Update: one of my civil war relic dealer friends just listed a box of 25 Eley 9mm for $350.00 as this was the most common caliber used by the US military as far as pinfire cartridges go. LDK
