This is the 450/400 3". My notes have two different dates for the introduction of this cartridge, 1896 and 1902. The 1896 seemed early for a NE, and I had dismissed that date. I saw mention of the 1896 date again recently, so I'll see what people here know about it.

If it cant be Grown it has to be Mined! Devoted member of Newmont mining company Underground Mine rescue team. Carlin East,Deep Star ,Leeville,Deep Post ,Chukar and now Exodus Where next? Pete Bajo to train newbies on long hole stoping and proper blasting techniques.
Back to Exodus mine again learning teaching and operating autonomous loaders in the underground. Bringing everyday life to most individuals 8' at a time!

Stick with 1902 as the start date for the 450/400"S" Jeffrey. It was only loaded as a smokeless round .
The 450/400 31/4" cartridge first appeared as a blackpowder round in the 1880's , but that is a differant round to the Jeffrey.
