We are in the midst of an snow/ice storm here. They've been warning folks for a week it was coming. ...So the daily hits, they were fights in a Walmart over milk, people angry and pleading even threating for propane filling even as the stores were closing due to icy roads. I continue to be amazed at people so unprepared. Some are complaining that the stores are not open because they are short of food for their family. Makes me scratch my head.

That's really sad. Shows that most people really do not pay attention to anything beyond the end of their noses. ~Ann

Now just imagine how shocked & bewildered they would be to become informed that people have over four years of food and twenty Sources of fresh & pure water on their property or very short walk. With near two years of food buried in a static temperature of 34* to 36* degrees refrigeration. ALASKA is a "HARD COUNTRY for OLDMEN". (But if you live it wide'ass open, balls'to the wall, the pedal floored, full throttle, it is a delightful place, to finally just sit-back and savor those memories while sipping Tequila).

Where does one learn how to do what you mentioned? I’m building a place in MT and would like to do just that. _________________________ Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Sorry I don't know how in Montana. My assumption is totally different environment. You might start by burying a thermocouple down 20" or two one at 16" and one at 30" I don't like do go very deep, my goal is to be able to dig it up with no tools. I only bury canned goods with a best by date 5 or 6 six yeas forward. The burying is as much for having something if everything else is stolen. I have a involved cache system with fall'back shelters progressively deeper back into the wilderness. ALASKA is a "HARD COUNTRY for OLDMEN".
