I receive the newsletter from the Hunting Consortium and wanted to pass the information along regarding the opening of Iran for U.S. hunters.

Our great friend John Jackson at the Conservation Force has just concluded his inquiry into the procedures and restrictions associated with the freezing of assets and further embargos against the Islamic Republic of Iran by the United States. Previously, it had been determined that these restrictions, initiated by Executive Order of President Bill Clinton, prohibited American hunters from hunting in Iran and from bringing their trophies back from that country. New guidance, directly from OFAC (Office of Foreign Asset Control), a division of the U.S. Treasury, states unequivocally that Americans may travel to Iran and engage in hunting there, on a private basis, just as they are allowed to do sightseeing tours in that country. Furthermore, if the trophies obtained during the hunting trip are for personal use only and accompany the hunter as accompanied baggage on the return trip, they may be imported.

This is fantastic news for the sheep and ibex hunting community. Iran, previously Persia, has a long and proud hunting history. An elaborate system of nature reserves was built throughout the country by the Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, prior to the Islamic Revolution. The game management program established in this country is one of the best in Central Asia and wildlife populations are excellent. Iran is the only country in the world where one can collect 7 different species of wild sheep and 2 species of ibex. There are also brown bears, leopard, red stag and the very rare Persian fallow deer, all of which are currently protected.

The Hunting Consortium has been involved in Iran for many years. Prince Abdorreza Pahlavi, brother of the Shah, who set up many of the reserves which exist today, was a client of our firm for almost 20 years. We arranged almost all of the Asian hunting trips for His Imperial Highness during the last decade or so of his life. During my many travels with the Prince he schooled me on the right places and the right times for collecting all of the various species of his country and with his guidance we made the necessary contacts to deliver outstanding hunts there.

We are proud to begin booking immediately hunts for all legal species in the country of Iran. The primary hunting season is from late September through early March. Each species has its own best time. The full list of species to be hunted as follows:

Persian (bezoar) Ibex Transcaspian urial
Southern Persian Ibex Shiraz mouflon
Red Sheep Laristan mouflon
Armenian mouflon Persian goitered gazelle
Esfahan mouflon Wild boar
Kerman sheep

We are also pleased to be able to offer mixed bag bird shooting and driven hunts for wild boar for groups of 4 or more hunters.

Licenses for some of the sheep are extremely limited. Therefore, those interested in hunting in Iran should contact our office immediately in order to book their hunts for 2012.

I will be in Iran in November and December of this year visiting all of the hunting areas and making the preliminary arrangements for our hunters. We intend to have a very full season in 2012 and take full advantage of this new opportunity.

Woodelf...you are right on. Any american who spends a single dollar there should be tried for treason and hung by the neck until dead.... before sunset. That $$ will be effectively used to kill our GI's in that region and it would be a shameful act in the very least. Shame on anyone even considering this act. Nuff said.

To all the people giving money to the Iranians and those on this forum who desire to give money to them, Do you know anyone who has been killed in the war by an IED? The vast majority of them came from Iran, this doesn't even touch on the weapons, personnell and tens of millions of dollars that aided in the death of our troops. I know it is a lot to ask for you to not have your Iranian SCI pin at the convention, or not have your plaques that you paid for recognizing your achievements as hunters, Or maybe it is the pictures and bragging rights at your next cocktail party, but really people, have you no shame? shame

My apologies to anyone offended by the post about Iran. When I read the Treasury Department stated it was o.k. for U.S. Citizens to go and hunt there, I assumed it was "O.K."

Reza and Ali who operate the hunting company in Iran went to high school and college in the U.S. Ali is an American citizen.

Jim Shockey just finished another hunt there (see attached link).

As previously stated, my apologies as coming from a family with a long line of military and civilian police, we would never do anything to contribute to harming our Troops.

Kathi,

While I disagree with your IMO negative travel posts about Zimbabwe, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Hunting is not just about North Americans and any info is good info. You have just experienced posts from your own 'home grown' extremists.

Iran has always been a premiere hunting location and as someone said, Arabic culture has a hunting heritage probably as rich or richer than any in the world.

If North Americans don't wish to go there then they don't have to.

According to your logic, hunting in Zim is the same as this. Money goes towards Mugabe's government and we all know what happened to many innocent farmers over there.

You see those innocent farmers aren't US citizens so that doesn't count. Haven't you heard of American Excepionalism? We're better.

What some of my fellow exceptional hunters fail to understand is that not only would exceptional money go over to Iran, but also the opportunities for some Iranians to meet some exceptional people and maybe hear some exceptional ideas. By isolating them the wackos in charge of Iran get to control the message. We shouldn't be afraid to let them know who we are.

Code-4 you are very correct by the way.

I'd go hunting in Iran in a heart beat, if I could afford it. My finances need to be a little more exceptional before I can go.

I would hunt in Iran. I have no issue with the Iranian people.

Also, does anyone on the planet even know why we are shooting at people in Afganistan or Iraq? I give up - no weapons of mass destruction, they cannot make a decent roll of toilet paper, we have no business meddling in their affairs. Our enemy is not the Iranian people, it is Islamic terrorists that wish to do us harm on our soil.

Bring the troops home now. They are pawns in a struggle that we have no reason to be involved in.

I will contact Bob and see what is available there. Same for Pakistan.

No apology needed. You have stated facts. if someone does not want to hunt in Iran or Zim or Utah for whatever reason, you owe them no apology.

Politics get our soldiers killed and drain our economy. We have no business in Afganistan or Iraq. Let them solve their own problems.

Mugabe or his henchmen aren't murdering our troops like the Iranians are. Also, some of the money me and others are spending in Zim is what is keeping those farmers (and other whites) going in that country. My point was not to hold yourself accountable for every foul deed performed by every government in every country you visit, but to do business with a country and government that is currently murdering our young people in an ongoing war is shameful. Obviously, you and the others in SCI can make an excuse for anything. Just out of curiosity, are you related to anyone in the theater that is in danger of being murdered by the Iranians and their weapons?

Gibbs,
No, I am not related to anyone over there. I have hired a couple of vets that served there. I ask all of them - why are we there? No one can answer that simple question.

To be out of danger of being "murdered" by Iranians, bring the troops home and keep our democratic nose out of other countries affairs.

That is the simple solution.

so, because we are in an action that you can't explain, justify or just plain disagree with makes it ok to do business with the country or government that is killing our soldiers in that action? This is amazing, it is brought into the conversation the hand that Iran has in murdering American troops and a certain few can only post about the past history of the people doing business with Iran. Kathi, if Bob Kern paid Al Quaida to take him on a Markhor hunt, would that be ok because he was a pilot in Vietnam? Quit making excuses and justifying what you and your husband want to do, either have the discipline to say no or have the conviction to do as you please, anything else appears weak.

Well 505, you have been trumped there. This is a clause in the "weez beez niggaz" law of debate. The law states that people of the Negroid race can call each other "niggaz", "niggers", or even the more current "nizzel" while all other race are prohibited from uttering such words. As extention of this law all US millitary personel are allowed to conspire to kill current US military personel while all other groups are not.

Now do you understand. Every teenager does. nilly

First of all, my apologies to Mrs. Kathi for hijacking her thread.

Mr 505

What does SCI have to do with this? Is it because of their awards system?. SCI probably does more for hunting then any other organisation throughout the world.

Also what is the your beef with Bob kern? Why is it that you are attacking him here and not face to face? If you have a problem with him, I suggest you contact him directly and see what he has to say and allow him the oppurtunity to defend himself.

And Mrs. Kathi, please keep us updated to what's happening in Iran with regards to hunting as I am very interested in going to hunt there in the new future.

Both of the hunting organizations listed in this thread (run by Bob Kern and Jim Shockey) are ardent supporters and advertisers for SCI. The lack of morals and hunting ethics shown by SCI make it (IMO) one of the most detremental organizations to hunting in the world. You and everyone else think that because you send your check to some lobby group that you are helping hunting, take a look at the example being set by the uppers at the organization you are sending your money to.

Also what is the your beef with Bob kern? Why is it that you are attacking him here and not face to face? If you have a problem with him, I suggest you contact him directly and see what he has to say and allow him the oppurtunity to defend himself.
I don't need to say squat to Bob Kern, I know what he did, as he did not deny it. The only thing that kept Bob from being a convicted felon is that he had the money to get out from under it. Well guess what, he still had to stand trial in the ethics court in front of the hunting community. Unfortunately, there are 2 types of jurors, those that stand firm in what is ethical and what is not, and those that follow people like Bob Kern, Dan Duncan, Mike Simpson, and apparently Jim Shockey around with stars in their eyes. Wake up losers, just because someone is famous or has a lot of money or has hunted all over the world or was a hero in a past war, does not give them a pass to behave in an unethical matter. And as far as apologizing to Kathy, why? If I was supporting someone unknowingly doing what the Iranians are doing, I would hope someone here would have the backbone to let me know. I would say this thread is right on track, despite the efforts by the weak to derail it.

It never seems to amaze me that most of the people who ARE NOT Americans and ARE NOT in the WAR ON TERROR think these bastards are harmless to the world as a whole. You damned idiots, if it was not for American soldiers leading the charge on this front to keep these bastards running, the world would PAY DEARLY for it. Mind our own business??? Do you think if they could kill every American...they would stop there? Read some history and note what language this is written in.

Remember the Germans in WW2...same damned thing. Are you speaking German against your will right now? Hell no...and that is AGAIN, because of many brave American soldiers including my dad. Did American do it alone...no....but they played the biggest role thats for sure......and it ain't no different now. Were all germans bad back then....hell no, but the wrong ones were...just like now. American soldiers...leading the charge to keep middle eastern terrorism at bay. American soldiers, allowing the rest of the world to sleep good at night. Rest of the world...largely ungrateful just like in WW2.

All mid-easterners are not terrorists....but all terrorists are mid easterners. Same battle...different foe!

Thats my opinion are there is no amount of $$$ that can change it...unlike others on here. Being stupid should be painful!
