Was just notified that my deposit for Marco Polo in Tajikistan is being returned. No hunts in Tajikistan. Apparently our wildlife people and the Tajis couldn't get their acts together for '09. Even had a custom rifle done by Bansner's in preparation for this. Oh well.
Will be looking for a desert sheep hunt to replace it. Any outfitters reading this that have some good deals this year for desert - feel free to PM me.

You may want to contact either Dennis Campbell or Seth Campbell at OVIS/GRAND SLAM at 205-674-0101. They were very helpful in steering me toward an available Desert Sheep Hunt sometime back. From personal experience and input from their members, the have a real good grasp of what is going on.

I was disappointed to hear about Tajikistan since I was planning on making a try for Marco Polo in 2010. If you don't mind my asking, who were you planning on going with (Booking Agent/Out5fitter)?

It was with The Hunting Consortium, Bob Kern.
Now 2010 will probably be happening. It's just this year that our gov. and the Taji gov. couldn't get it together.

Thanks for the info on the Campbells. Kind of waiting to see what happens around Dec. since that is when the outfitters know for sure if their hunters are able to make it or are having to back out.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Had a buddy just get back from Kyrgystan two weeks ago and took a 57" Marco Polo and a 50" Mid Asian ibex.. Said it was the trip of a lifetime.. And went as flawlessly as could ever be expected.. He too was sceduled to head to Tajik intially, but with all that's going on (as you know), he decided to change plans and head "next door" so to speak..

Blue, if you'd like the info on who he hunted with, I'd be glad to get it for ya.. I'm seriously thinking about doing an ibex hunt over there next year..

This guy is a good friend of me. His name Gabor.
We have gone hunting the last year in Kazakhstan in the national park on Maral and Siberian roebuck. At that time I have organised the hunt, because I have exellennte relations. My father administers the national park since 1989. Every year we have there the best hunt.
Wapiti - 10-15 kg!!!
