Hello Guys,
Azerbaijan has closed it's Tur hunting season after one week being open again.
Currently it is unclear if this will be a permanent closure or if they'll open again.

That's the information i got one from a friend in Azerbaijan.

I don't believe they ever actually opened the season. They did initially announce the season dates about 45 days ago, but then decided to close it before the actual hunting season opened.

Word is that several hunters arrived in Baku and were told they could not hunt.

Wow. What a great shame for all the guys / gals that have booked for this year. Great let down.
Hope it works out ok somehow for everyone that was planning to go this year with refunds or postponements.

Hi Greg,
as far as I know, some guys did hunt right at the beginning of the season. It is possible of course, that they hunted without permits.

I also know of guys arriving in Baku and denied the hunt.

What's going on and why the closure?

I thought they had a metric butt-ton of them in the Caucasus mountains.

Is this political or is it wars or rumors of wars or what?

Apparently the most recent population counts were not positive, or at least that is the reasoning behind the closure they're giving anyway.

There is a lot of anti hunting sentiment and anti hunting NGOs operating in all these countries! I hear Bezoar in Turkey may be closing as well!
