Wow, what a trip! Congrats - and best wishes for good hunting and good shooting both! What rifle/caliber will you use? I understand that the shots can often be a very long range proposition . . . . Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

That will probably be a rather long answer if he gets to it before he heads North to the Brooks. Lets just say it's really, really light. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

Thanks! I have a Bansner Ultimate Ovis in 7mm wsm. It's pushing a 160 AccuBond at 3158fps. HOT load by the way. It's getting its "test run" very shortly in the Brooks Range for sheep, caribou, grizzly, and wolf. Seems to be shooting well though. My understanding is 300-600 yards is the norm in Kyrgyzstan. I've been shooting 300 regularly with no problems from prone off my pack. I'm definitely going to up the anty next year and practice out to atleast 400 yards. If I can find longer I'll do it! Brett, a trip of a lifetime for sure, good luck. Practice shooting upto atleast 500 yards. My father shot his Marcopolo at 415 yards and the local guide said that it was a short distance shot for Marcopolo! Ahmed Sultan

Congrats again Brett! Guys speaking of these ranges, is it generally the same for IBEX, or are these really long shots usually just the sheep? I am going with Brett to hunt IBEX only, and 400 yard shots sure don't make good footage for TV...and they really stretch my ability . congratulations and good luck I also consider hunting with Renaud may be for Marco Polo. I don't know how many Marcos has he under his belt but he is an undisputed specialist of hunting ----------according to the book------Asia. He began hi pH career with tiger and Gaur (the giant Indian buffalo) in India, Nam and Birmania with the most prominent world hunters. He is only 40+ Icing the cake he is a perfect accomplished gentleman and awonderful and captiving companion. I badly envy You. Dear Brett Good luck, yes the distance shooting is required. But remember if it feels to far do not shot. I did not have a rang finder but in general if you can sit it with your eye the guides think it is in shooting range. Have a good sling and take your own pack to mount on the horse. Not sure what time of year but white could be your cammo colour. Also get your self a wolf tag. Regards Mark

Congratulation Part I !! Nice choice of rifle & load for the game & the terrain. Have you tried the TTSX? They may be better for hitting bone at longer ranges, as long as they give great accuracy. What scope are you going to use? A Sworvski Z6 looks like a great choice. My friend has one on his 7mm WSM & I really like its versatility & ease of use for adjusting to long range. Good luck! I used a Z3 3-9 on my recent dall sheep hunt. I'm putting a Z5 3.5-18 with ballistic turret on it for this hunt. Should be nice to just hold on the animal with a bit more magnification. 18x is a little overkill in my oppinion, but I like the scope and at 16oz feel it's lighter weight. Brett good luck. I am heading over there to hunt with Ansten Ostbye in Nov of 12 for MP and Ibex. I too will be carrying a Bansner, but in 300RUM with a Z5 with a custom turret that Tom set up for me. It is sweet. Wickedly accurate to 700 yards. It is a sweet set up. In the mean time, I will have to settle for a CA desert bighorn hunt in November.
