Almost every animal under the sun and some in total darkness have their fatal attractions. With whitetails its corn. Nilgai don't come to corn.

What do nilgai eat in their native India? I am determined to discover what it is besides clean water that gets them going. Some type of grain, or gourds/melons, a particular blossom?

Thanks
Andy

They love to eat most crops but not corn. They will eat leaves from cotton plants. But various Pulses and lentil grain crops draw them like magnets. I am not sure of the english names but varieties of lentil grains will probably grow in TX too!

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Perhaps contact the techies @ Foxpro, they may have sounds you could buy for Nilgai or create one for that species.

There are others in the calling industry:
Wildlife Technologies,
Minaska,
...just to name a few.

Trying to find a sex lure from a nilgai cow in heat may be non-existant.

Regardless, I'm interested in the results of this curiosity.

If you know any Amish, they probably know every grain known to man. I visit their store sometimes and you wouldn't believe the variety of beans, etc., they have on their shelves.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
