A recent two week wandering in the midle of nowhere Kyrgyzstan, central Asia within the massive and beautiful Tian Shan (Celestial) mountain range.

A bone jarring 10 hour ride to the end of the earth.

Typical Kyrgyz homestead. Portable!

Mode of transportation

Easy, old boy, don't trip now!

Fly camp.

Past hunters

Plenty of four legged hunters in the area too.

After Richard's Marco Polo success, we enjoyed Argali oysters!

Damned cholla follows me around the globe!!

Past 13K ft, it was COLD

Setting up

Helluva place, these mountains

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Finally, really been looking forward to this one and realizing you been runnin hard the last several weeks. I had faith in you, but as the days went by, I was sure hoping you didn't get in an early vodka drinking contest.

Congratulations, looks like you really got it done. Great photos and thank you for sharing them with us.

Scottyboy!

You did well my friend! I'm happy for your great success and fabulous experience. The photos are excellent as well.

Were the oysters as good as they are from N.A. wild sheep? I didn't eat any while in the Gobi or the Pamirs. Darn it!

Nice Scotty, really nice.

I especially like the rock drawings. Was there a story to go with those?

Hope to see you in Vegas!

Scotty, congrats!
Glad to see your post.
Those petroglyphs are not old, though. However, there are many places with old ones with similar looking ibex but no hunter.

Scott,

Welcome home from your great adventure. That first fly camp photo cracked me up. Thought that them boys parked it there in the stream, maybe because it was in easy reach of water.

Really happy for you. Stunning country, nice billies. When you are ready for marco, let's get it done.

Thanks for the post

Congratulations, Scotty. Wish I were young enough to have gone with you. Would like to buy you lunch and talk about your trip. Call me to set it up.

Incidentally, what do the Cyrillic letters spell in your heading?

Bill
I'll take ya up on the lunch offer. I haven't seen ya in a few months. I'll call you.

The Cyrillic lettering says "Tien Shan Wandering". At least I hope it does!

Thanks all!

Thank you for the pix, Scottyboy. I was furtunate to have hunted the Tien Shan a few years ago. It was a mind boggling experience.
I'm not sure which spelling is preferred-Tien or Tian.
