Here's an interesting article from the IUCN concerning sustainable hunting of Ungulates, namely Marco Polo and Mid Asian Ibex (though it does mention markhor in the article as well). Pretty interesting stuff, and the source makes it a little more interesting:

Thanks for posting this article, good God when are people who really care about ALL ANIMALS, going to understand, that hunters are the ultimate conservationists. Glad someone in the field, with hands on experience, realizes what a part of the equation we really are.
