After an AR friend of mine recommended I check him out, I visited Blake Wilson's web site: http://www.trophybirds.com/ After taking a long look at Blake's site, I emailed him and followed up with some phone calls. Initially, I sent him a Mandarin drake via Fed Ex overnight (its been 104-106 here lately). Next, I decided to drive down to Alabama and visit Blake's shop, taking several special birds to him. Not only does Blake have a extraordinary passion for waterfowl hunting, but he shares the same passion for bird Taxidermy that I have. He does outstanding work and has swept many Taxidermy competitions in all categories: Best of Show, Judges Choice, People's Choice and more 1st Place showings than I care to recite. I highly recommend him to anyone needing a special bird mounted. He's honest, and very fair priced. "Birdmen" are hard to come by, especially those of high caliber. Good hunting, David

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Burrow's Taxidermy in Brinkley, Arkansas is also very good with waterfowl. I think they have won some competition as well. I haven't been up there in over 15 years - I guess they are still there.

You are right about bird taxidermists being hard to find. We used to do our own in college and one of the guys stayed with it and is professional quality. He mounts for his friends only. You should have seen some of the wierd stuff we came up with. And nothing smells better than thawing out a drake hooded merganser with a big 'ol shad in his craw! merg
