I returned to one of my favorite waterfowl areas in Nebraska during early November 2019. The migration was in full swing and we took our limit each day. The species ranged from Mallards, Pintails, Gadwalls, Shovelers, Greenwing Teal, Wigeon to Redheads, Greater Scaup & Buffleheads. We tried light geese but had only a few Ross geese for our efforts as tens of thousands of live birds drew every bird in the air to their numbers. Now that the cold weather has made its appearance, Mallards and dark geese are pouring in so I may return in January to get in on the phenomenal goose hunting. Cost for this hunt is very reasonable at $150 per day. Local motel is nice, clean and offers free Cont'l breakfast. Dining is plentiful in town but plan on packing a few snacks in case it's a past lunch day. #4 2 3/4" Winchester load was poor on marginal shots. #3 3" Rio's did well but Heavy Metal #3 did exceptional. I normally use BB's on the geese. I'll drop to #1's if they decoy close. Chokes were Cylinder/IC on the O/U and IC on the Benelli. My friends used Indian Creek & stock Win-choke, not sure on the Winchoke.
