Canada Geese used to consist of 11 sub-species, then in 2004 they were split into 2 full species. - Canada Geese (now there are 7 sub-species) - Cackling Geese (now there are 4 sub-species) There is a lot of variation in size, plumage pattern, voice, etc even among the sub-species. Here is a Canada and a Cackling side by side for comparison. | ||
