Canada Goose VS Cackling Goose
Canada Geese used to consist of 11 sub-species, then in 2004 they were split into 2 full species.

- Canada Geese (now there are 7 sub-species)
- Cackling Geese (now there are 4 sub-species)

There is a lot of variation in size, plumage pattern, voice, etc even among the sub-species.

Here is a Canada and a Cackling side by side for comparison.

No more "Lesser" so cross that one out.

Here are the 7 for Canada and 4 for Cackling along with their [common] names.

Canada Goose (Branta canadensis):
1) canadensis [Atlantic]
2) interior [Interior]
3) maxima [Giant]
4) moffitti [Moffit's]
5) parvipes
6) fulva [Vancouver]
7) occidentalis [Dusky]


Cackling Goose (Branta hutchinsii):
1) hutchinsii [Richardson's]
2) leucopareia [Aleutian]
3) taverneri [Taverner's]
4) minima

looks like an Aleutian on the right Collector, don't recall the Cacks I've shot having that pronounced of a neck ring that fully encircles the neck, it usually stops short ...

I'm no expert though ...
