Here are the primary geese of Argentina.

Magellan Geese are really cool looking, males and females have different coloration.

Ashy-headed Geese are also amazing and both male and female look alike.

Argentina waterfowl hunting has taken a big hit. Geese have been shut down in most provinces. I have heard a plethora of reasons as to why Goose hunting was shut down and they range from; political backlash; to outfitters not paying the license fees; to ruddy-headed geese being shot....etc. No one really knows the exact reason.

If you go for duck hunting only then there is limitation of which species of ducks you can bring back to the states for taxidermy. I miss the old Argentina Frowner Dove shooting however is still the best.

Nice!!

I do wish the issues surrounding importation of trophy ducks would get resolved though......

Gorgeous birds. Collector, are there other countries where these birds (and others) can be hunted and imported? Also, which species of ducks CAN one take back from Argentina (those that we don't have here specifically), please?

I've always said I'm going to hunt there, but not if I can't bring birds back to add to my...collection, I guess you'd call it. Wink

@KG
5 species that currently can be brought back ...after a boat load of red tape and one or two extra days in Buenos Aires to get the paperwork done are:
- Yellow Billed Pintail
- Rosy-Billed Pochard
- Red Shoveler
- Southern Wigeon
- White-faced WHistling Duck

None of the teal can be brought back.

South Chile is an option for Geese but the operators I have had a chance to work with are a bunch of crooks and I shy away from Chile. Never would encourage anyone to go hunt there. Chile has bad written all over it.

Uruguay is open for ducks but with restrictions on species and limits and it is expensive.

Unfortunately golden days of goose hunting in South America are pretty much over, no more high volume Goose Hunting.

Exporting legal big game trophy's has been an issue as well. Personally, I won't go to Argentina until restrictions are lifted on bringing home waterfowl. I'm like you collector; I want to mount a few birds. Wish they would get their act together. LDK

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
