Looking for a good recommendation for a Sandhill Crane outfitter, and what is the best timing?

We have to draw for Crane tags in TN. 3 of us scored again but we're only allowed 2 per season. TX is the best choice. I believe they are still 3 per day.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Last year a group of us hunted at an outfit called Fowl Okie for sandhill crane on the OK/KS border.

It was a lot of fun, but it would probably be better a bit earlier in the season- I went about this time of year, and they noted most of the birds had already migrated.

We got some birds, but didn’t limit out.

This is right on the biggest concentration of them per OK, anyhow.

We has to get both OK and KS licenses. There was an online crane ID class as well.

I thought they did a good job, and would hunt with them again if I decide to hunt cranes.

They are(or were) not a full service outfit. You stayed in a local hotel and drove to meet up with the guides if that’s an issue. They did do all the field work and clean/froze the birds and fed you lunch.
