I wanted to post some pictures/reports from this past season on the encouragement of L. David Keith.

Well 1st off I am primarily a waterfowler so although I had some dove and quail shoots they are not what sticks in my mind...

Waterfowl season started for us with Early Teal. As always it was an adventure with the 95 Degree Weather, Mosquitos, & Alligators. Overall had a great early season but the most memorable morning was when we hosted a good friend of ours from Utah. It was a pretty slow morning. We only had one bird in hand by 8:30 (it was to only one we had seen) and it was starting to turn hot. All of a sudden in the way teal have we suddenly had a group of 12 decoy in. 8 shots 8 birds... We were very pleased when the dog brought them all back including a hard retrieve after a lively cripple. That left 3 (one for each of use) in our limit. 10 minutes after the last retrieve, 3 appear by magic and well... All Done!

My main hunting partner and I with the Take...

After teal season it was off to Utah. Before I started hunting there I could not conceptulize how good the waterfowling was there. Was I wrong! Sporting a 100 day plus season and a 7 duck limit leads to lots of oppotunity. We hunted on the Ambassador Club off the Great Salt Lake. The only drawback to hunting there in October is the birds are not fully plumed and not as many mallards. The year before we hunted live spring flows near the Idaho border in Decemeber in 9 degree weather and were covered up with drake Mallards. Oh well the action was hot & heavy any way!

The 1st afternoon we had our limit about 4 hours after getting off the plane. My main hunting partner and I with the Take...

Day 3 was also very good... Buddy with the Take...

Back to Texas... Well we had so many good hunts but 3 really stood out.

I had the opportunity to take a young man and his father hunting a few days and we had a great time... I call him a man beause not only does he shoot 3 1/2s magnums he shoots well. Better than a lot of "grown folk" I have seen. He only missed one duck on his way to his limit.

Colten on an exceptional day...

Another was when I got the opportunity to go with a friend of mine and the 2 gentlemen that introduced him to duck hunting. Lordy but they could shoot. Had 3 great days with them. The both got to take whistling ducks.. their 1st ever. This is what it is all about.

The best day...

Lastly, we had two friends come in from North Carolina and was able to put both of them on their 1st drake canvasbacks and one of them on his 1st drake pintail...

"Meat" Shot....

All in all a great season with a lot of great memories!!

Excellent pictures Andrew! Some would make covers for waterfowl magazines. That last "meat shot" has all my favorite ducks. Thanks for posting. I enjoyed each picture.
Good hunting,
David

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
